Why FireHorse?
One of the first questions people ask me when I tell them the name of my company is: why that name? As promised last month I'm going to give you the short story behind this FireHorse.
When I was trying to find a name for my company, I decided that I wanted one that could grow beyond Carol Glover. I must have struggled for weeks, bouncing names off friends and family. Deepest apologies to my husband; I must have driven you crazy. Then one day, I recalled that my Chinese birth symbol is the horse and that they further refine the symbols by adding elements such as earth and air. My element is fire. Fire Horse, that sounded like a pretty cool business name to me so I decided to do some more research.
Some of the key descriptive words/phrases for the FireHorse personality are: optimism, wisdom, hope, freedom and willingness to get off the beaten path. These are the qualities I wanted to bring to my business and to my clients. At first the name felt a little awkward but as I stretch to build my business and define my brand, I continue to grow into that FireHorse. Now, the FireHorse feels like home.
On occasion people mention some of the less favorable characteristics of horses: willful, aloof, unpredictable. When I am willful it is because in my heart I know it is the right thing. When I am aloof I am keeping my distance so I can remain objective before making decisions. When I am unpredictable I am at my best because I am coming up with creative solutions. Now, are these really unwanted traits?
